A teaming arrangement between NORAM and IMW Industries Ltd. has been successful in winning a contract from UTC Power, a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company, to supply a major component for UTC Power's newest fuel cell, the PureCell® Model 400 system.
The PureCell® Model 400 is an integrated phosphoric acid fuel cell, capable of providing 400 kW electricity, and approximately as much thermal equivalent energy in cogen applications, using natural gas as a fuel. The fuel processor, which includes the reformer, will be manufactured at IMW's Chilliwack, B.C. plant.
The collaboration with UTC Power represents another advance in fuel cell commercialization within B.C.'s growing fuel cell sector. The PureCell® offers value where high energy efficiency, distributed power, and energy independence from the grid are motivators. Lead orders for the PureCell® include New York's new Freedom Tower complex.
