The second Annual Report of the B.C. Ministry of Environment Land Remediation Section, has singled out the award-winning Nexen site in Squamish, B.C. as one of two High Profile sites exemplifying brownfield remediation strategies.
NORAM, who provided both project management as well as innovative technology solutions, led the four-year, $40-million project to return prime water-front property to commercial and residential use.
The report highlights not only the innovation in technology and risk management, but also the strong sense of partnership fostered among all stakeholders by the project. The proprietary NORAM technologies have been awarded patents, were documented by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and are now being assessed for the treatment of leachable tailings, Acid Mine Drainage, and arsenic contamination.
