NORAM Engineering has developed the LIGNOR™-ARD process, a
Green Chemistry Process, to treat metal contaminated water. The process uses LIGSORB™, a lignin derivative obtained as a by-product of the pulp industry.

LIGNOR™-ARD process was researched and developed during the remediation project in Squamish, BC. It successfully treated mercury-contaminated ground water to levels below the British Columbia Aquatic Life Standards, and was further developed to treat Acid Rock Drainage using water from Britannia Mines, BC

The LIGNOR™-ARD process has been proven to remove the following metals:
  • aluminum
  • cadmium
  • chromium
  • copper
  • lead
  • manganese
  • mercury
  • nickel
  • iron
  • zinc
